History #
San Ciprián has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was part of the Kingdom of León. During this time, the village was repopulated as part of the process of consolidating the Leonese territory in Sanabria. After the independence of Portugal from the Leonese kingdom in 1143, San Ciprián suffered various conflicts due to its geographical position near the border, a situation that stabilized at the beginning of the 13th century.
In the Early Modern period, San Ciprián was one of the localities integrated into the province of the Lands of the Count of Benavente, within the receivership of Sanabria. With the provincial reorganization of 1833, San Ciprián became part of the province of Zamora, within the Leonese Region, and was integrated in 1834 into the judicial district of Puebla de Sanabria. In 1970, the municipality of San Ciprián was incorporated into that of San Justo.
