Iberian Wolf, by Arturo de Frias Marques

The Iberian Wolf Center of Castile and León, located in the town of Robledo, in the municipality of Puebla de Sanabria, offers an educational and unique experience to learn about the relationship between wolves and humans. This complex, inaugurated in October 2015, is located on a Public Utility Mountain that covers an area of 21 hectares. In it, visitors can explore a diverse ecosystem composed of reforestation pines, holm oaks, birches, alders, humid scrubland and pastures.

An Architecture Integrated into Nature
#

The interpretation center is an impressive 1800 m² structure designed by Leocadio Peláez. Its architecture is carefully integrated with the surroundings, evoking heritage elements related to the wolf. In its exhibition spaces, visitors can learn about the historical coexistence between people and wolves through a variety of resources: audiovisuals, ambient sounds, archaeological and ethnographic pieces, explanatory texts, and projection and educational rooms.

Observing Wolves in Semi-Freedom
#

The complex also has two fenced enclosures that house Iberian wolves, born in captivity or rescued from the wild. These animals live in a semi-freedom regime, which allows visitors to observe them in an environment as close as possible to their natural habitat. There are several pedestrian trails and three elevated observatories that offer privileged views to observe and learn about the behavior of these magnificent animals.
